Colorful Vintage Party Dresses and The Little Black Dress

As the end of summer nears I am starting to think about what I will be wearing this season to all of the party’s I hope to be attending, should I wear a Little Black Dress or something with color to show off my tan that I was lucky enough to find the time to achieve this summer while juggling running a flooring store and maintaining my vintage clothing biz , the one thing I do know for sure is that it will definitely be vintage!

Proudly Wearing Grandma’s Frumpy Old Vintage House Dress

If you’ve ever thumbed through old family photos of our grandmothers and great grandmothers looking at what they were wearing you might be thinking that you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a frumpy old house dress, but the way our bodies and fashion styles have evolved what may have looked frumpy back then on our grandmothers suddenly doesn’t look so frumpy now……

Pairing these cute little frocks up with a wide belt, a sweater thrown over the shoulders and some casual summer wedges and your sure to be a head turner!

And the beautiful woman standing second from the right with her arms crossed is my grandmother Nicolina, the woman standing in the back by the door is my great-grandmother Giovanna, and as you can see most of the women are wearing house-dresses, boy would I love to raid those closets now if they were all still alive, you do know that old school Italians never throw anything away, never!

Purple Is Always In Style. Vintage Purple Accessories & Clothing From Bette be Good Vintage

Do you like the color purple?

It appears to always make a comeback in vintage fashion.

Whether it is the Victorian royal purple or the 1980s brights.

In the 1950s and 60s it was a very popular color either in lavenders or vivid retro purple.

In a Clutch – Grab a Clutch

Joan Rivers is quoted as saying “No woman I know
could ever be a terrorist. Put a bomb in a Gucci bag? Oh, no way!”
A funny quote to be sure, but I think most women feel strongly about their handbags whether it’s a Gucci or a $5 find from the thrift store. Statistics from Shop Etc. tell us that the average woman has six handbags – what? only six? I don’t know any woman who only has 6 bags. My closet currently holds about 15 and I’m not a handbag hoarder, a clutch cacher, or a pocketbook pack rat. One bag we can never have enough of is the convenient clutch. Because of their compact size and all purpose handiness they are a great way to add numbers without bulk to your accessories wardrobe.

The Fabulous Forties. Vintage that is always in style.

When asked what is my favorite year for vintage clothing I have to say the fabulous 1940s.  The vintage fashions, clothing,  accessories, movies and of course the music are my passion!

The forties 1940s fashions never go out of style in my mind.

Nothing is more flattering than a curvy Hollywood style 40s vintage suit or jacket. The Joan Crawford look makes everyone have the perfect hour glass figure. And the swing dresses of the era with their flirty skirts and shoulder pads are such fun.

A Classic Style That’s Worth Repeating

It’s true “what goes around comes around” and that especially applies in fashion. While many styles come back for an encore, there are some that are just so endlessly classic, they never go out of style. Case in point is the Kelly style handbag, named after Grace Kelly, Princess Grace of Monaco The Kelly is one of the most recognizable and greatest bags of our time. Although the Hermès company wants to keep the name all to themselves, it’s become a commonly used name for handbags of the iconic shape. Make Your Fall Season Colorful!

Love the yummy fall colors – they’re rich but soft and not brash at all. I favor the phlox purple, but if you’re like me and a bit conservative, you will not want to wear a large piece like a dress or pants outfit all in purple.
