Stiletto actually means a thin tapered blade referring to a knife like object, but in shoes “stiletto” refers to a type of shoe heel that is pointy, thin and high. Also called “spike” or “spiked” heels. Made popular in the 50’s/60’s, and certainly that holds true for today! An interesting quote I came across in my “Stiletto” book by Caroline Cox states “Most women prefer a trip to hell in high heels than to walk flat-heeled to heaven! The “Stiletto” spells sex, with an erotic
allure and the supreme symbol of femininity!
At Scorpio Vintage we offer the “Original” 50’s stiletto, along with the current version worn today!
The first is a 60’s silk plaid sling back pump
Second is 50’s Tapesty Classic Pump
Third is a 50’s color block suede pump
Last is a Modern version of the classic pump in a cream sling back!
