Colorful Vintage Party Dresses and The Little Black Dress

As the end of summer nears I am starting to think about what I will be wearing this season to all of the party’s I hope to be attending, should I wear a Little Black Dress or something with color to show off my tan that I was lucky enough to find the time to achieve this summer while juggling running a flooring store and maintaining my vintage clothing biz , the one thing I do know for sure is that it will definitely be vintage!

There’s nothing quite like Harris Tweed!

To my mind there is nothing quite like Harris Tweed. I’ve had the pleasure of finding coats for women but most often I have found sports coats and overcoats for men ranging from the 1920s to the 1980s.

Amazingly the coat from the 1920s was in such great condition that I doubted my dating of the coat. An email sent to the Harris Tweed Authority along with the registration number on the Harris Tweed label in the coat quickly informed me that my dating was correct!

Vintage 1960s and 70s handbags and purses from a former handbag collector.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to be called upon to “clean out” a handbag collectors home. The previous owner obviously was in love with quality handbags and pocketbooks. I found closet after closet of beautiful 1960s and 1970s handbags along with some matching pumps. Handbags for all seasons were lovingly tucked way.

These quality vintage 60 and 70s bags were almost all never used and still in their protective plastic.

Back when my girls were very little I used to spend a lot of time making them dresses, shorts, pants, tops and even matching leopard fleece coats and hats. It was fun to dress them up and it took much less fabric than it took to make myself something.
