Pearls for June Birthdays June Brides or Just Because You Love Pearls in Any Form

If you were born in June you have a truly beautiful birthstone ~ the pearl. They are the oldest gem known to man, and the only gem made by an animal. Pearls are symbols of purity, perfection, elegance and affluence.

Once a rare and highly prized gem, a symbol of power and most expensive since first documented in 2300 BC, they are now relatively inexpensive and available to anyone. We can find them not only in jewelry but accessories and even accents to clothing.

Fortunately for pearl lovers, there are not only natural pearls from oyster beds, but saltwater or freshwater pearls, cultured pearls “invented” in 1907, and those grown in pearl farms. And of course faux pearls made of glass or beads.

Schott Leather Motorcycle Jackets Four Generations Strong

James Dean wore his constantly. Marlon Brando made them famous in 1954 when he wore one in the movie "The Wild One".. Schott leather jackets.

Two sons of a Russian immigrant living in New York, Irving and Jack Schott began making raincoats in 1913, selling them on the street door to door in Manhattan and they were a huge hit.

Irving Schott was Inspired by his two favorite things, the Perfecto Cigar and motorcycles, and he forever changed attire to wear riding motorcycles, and named his first leather jacket with zippers the Perfecto in 1928, selling them to a Harley Davidson dealership. The zippered jacket was a huge hit and a brilliant concept.

The Perfecto was once again resurrected in popularity in the 70s and 80s by punk rockers.

Blondie (Deborah Harry), Joan Jett were women leading the pack in leather~

as well as groups like the Ramones.

Still an American Classic style, still produced by the third and fourth generation of the Schott family, in the same factory and with many of the same vintage sewing machines, the Schott Perfecto is proudly made in the USA.

Peeps ~ those soft fluffy marshmallow sugar sprinkled chickens have come a long way! 1951 Future Movie Stars and Fabulous Fashion

Vintage Magazines are a wonderful resource tool for vintage sellers.. they often help substantiate a date or a style, especially in advertising.

They are even more fun when there are features showing fabulous clothing from an era and famous people wearing them.

Gifted a copy of a 1951 Life Magazine, I came across a most wonderful article!

Titled “Apprentice Goddesses .. Hollywood Hopes Some of these Dozen Damsels Will Be Big Stars.”

The article is pages of “future” Hollywood movie stars. The dresses are so absolutely FABULOUS, I hope you will enjoy them as much as you will recognizing these women before they were stars ~
